Methylparaben is vegan but its use may have negative environmental consequences. It is used as a preservative and antifungal agent in a variety of consumer products including sunscreens. The sale and use of Methylparaben in sunscreen and skincare products has been restricted or banned in some areas in the interest of protecting marine life and coral reefs.
